Coalition of African American Leaders
Who are we?
COAL is an assembly of concerned African American social organizations who have come together for the purpose of addressing issues that impact on the well- being of the African American community.
COAL is composed of social organizations that have been in existence for decades. These groups proposed a vigorous response to depressing conditions facing many African Americans and were encouraged by growing sentiment that successful men should do something about the problems.
These groups represent a large portion of African American individuals who are at the highest level of awareness of quality of life issues.
The Coalition is a concerned assemblage of African American social organizations who have come together for the purpose of addressing issues and concerns that impact on the well being of the African American community. The Coalition is composed of groups that have been in existence for decades, representing a large portion of African American individuals who are at the highest level of educational, economic and professional accomplishments.
The goal of The Coalition is to be cognizant of and respond to issues pertinent to the African American community of a specific or general nature in the interest of having a positive impact on a particular situation.
COAL is proposed to be an organization of Chicago-area social organizations. COAL may seek to be incorporated or apply for tax-exempt non-profit status in the future. Membership shall be open to Chicago area social organizations that are invited to join.
