NEW PLANS SCALE BACK PROPOSED GEORGE LUCAS MUSEUM IN CHICAGO….ABC News

New plans for filmmaker George Lucas’ proposed museum on Chicago’s lakefront include a scaled-back design and more green space.

The plans were unveiled in federal court Thursday during a hearing in a nonprofit group’s lawsuit filed to prevent the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art from being built south of Soldier Field.

The new plans prompted U.S. District Judge John Darrah to tell Friends of the Parks they “don’t have a viable complaint” and give the group three weeks to fine-tune the lawsuit. The group’s attorney, Sean Morales-Doyle, said the complaint would largely remain unchanged because they take issue with whether the city can sell public land to a private entity, not project specifics.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel offered the land for the project to Lucas, who chose Chicago over San Francisco.
