CHICAGO — Two people were injured and one person was killed in an overnight shooting and crash on the Eisenhower Expressway near Ashland Avenue, according to police.
State police have closed the outbound lanes of I-290 at Ashland Avenue to Damen Avenue for the shooting’s investigation, which occurred just after midnight on Monday.
According to police, troopers located an unoccupied crashed vehicle in the lane of traffic on I-290 westbound at Ashland Avenue before locating a second crashed vehicle near Damen Avenue.
The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound. Four other victims were inside the second vehicle.
Two victims were transported to a local hospital with injuries from gunfire, while the other two occupants of the car were uninjured.
The incident remains under investigation and police have not indicated if anyone is in custody. All lanes were reopened at approximately 7:20 a.m.
