The South Chicago 19th Annual Ecumenical Service promoting peace and unity was a huge success. We marched together to celebrate our community and hard won victories over violence. Though it was a damp and cool day, the participants were warm and friendly. The South Chicago 19th Annual Ecumenical Service, co-sponsored by the South Chicago Neighborhood Network (SCNN), was held this morning on Heart and Soul Street (East 91st). It included scores of marchers, youth performers, artists and speakers from South Chicago and surrounding communities. Students, seniors and servers representing area churches, community and civic organizations, as well as building and block club leaders participated in the march, breakfast, and Balloon Release for Peace.
