The shape of Chicago’s City Council has changed significantly in recent months, and its latest class is made up of many new faces. Also a newcomer is the city’s outsider mayor, who’s working to curb the influence of aldermen. And looming over the chamber are FBI raids and indictments of council veterans.

The different caucuses of aldermen that make up the council play a big role in shaping its direction. Their leaders join us for a conversation about their priorities and vision for Chicago:

• 28th Ward Ald. Jason Ervin, chair of the city council’s Black Caucus

• 46th Ward Ald. James Cappleman, chair of the LGBT Caucus

• 10th Ward Ald. Susan Sadlowski Garza, leader of the Progressive Reform Caucus

• 35th Ward Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, head of the newly created Socialist Caucus and vice chair of the Latino Caucus (its chair, 26th Ward Ald. Roberto Maldonado, could not join us).
