On the Tablewith The Chicago Community Trust and all Chicago!
A couple of weeks ago, we joined a citywide celebration of The Chicago Community Trust’s centennial with anOn the Tableconversation. From Alsip to Zion, thousands of Chicago-area residents discussed the future of our communities while sharing a meal in celebration of The Chicago Community Trust. At our event on May 12th, we were joined by community members, local organizations, artists, concerned citizens and our Young Adult Art Advocates (YA3). It was a great chance to talk about our future and the opportunities before us as we transition into a larger space with a new identity. One of the lasting effects of this conversation was the overwhelming support and validation we were given by our community. We want to offer our sincerest thanks to all of you who participated, whether in person or in spirit, and want to let you know that we are looking forward to sharing the amazing things we have planned for our future.
Featured Artist
Dominique, Age 17
Dominique is one of the dedicated students in the Art Center that has worn many hats. After having participated in art classes, she returned to the Art Center to complete community service hours. Her hard work and dedication led to her eventually being hired as a summer intern. Dominique, now in her senior year of high school, has become a member of the Young Adult Art Advocates (YA3), a group of dedicated young adults that help spread the word about the great work of the organization in the broader community. In addition to being a hardworking scholar, she has also shown her talent in the arts. This drawing, a self-portrait, is one of her most recent pieces and part of her college admissions art portfolio.
