You will be asked to show 1) photo identification and 2) healthcare employee or first responder ID/badge.
Due to the demand for this service, we anticipate there could be significant wait times associated with these drive-thru community based testing sites. Please be patient. Info Shared by Alderman Hairston: On Monday April 13th, CPS will start remote learning for Pre-K–12 as part of their response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Each family should of already been notified by their child’s school of their plans of being in alignment with new guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education. Remote learning will remain in place until schools reopen.
Students will be offered both digital and non-digital learning options (packets can be picked up at food distributing locations for CPS), as well as dedicated “office hours,” where students and families can receive support from teachers via Google Meet, phone, or email.
While students are expected to complete assignments and schools are able to grade work, grades will be counted only if they improve a student’s grade and will not negatively impact any student’s academic standing. Students who do not engage in academic work can be issued an incomplete and will be expected to make up incomplete assignments following the remote learning period.

Pritzker Announces Schools Closed For In-Person Learning For Rest of Academic Year by WTTW Press Conference
Pritzker said Illinois will receive about $569 million in federal funding for pre-K through 12th-grade schools from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Of that funding, some dollars will go directly to schools, Pritzker said, while the rest will be distributed by the Illinois State Board of Education based on the needs of school districts.
That funding will be used to help equip students with technological devices and internet access, support teachers in developing lesson plans and assist schools in providing meals to students and families. The UChicago Financial Education Initiative is piloting a free program for financial wellness available to employees of small businesses. The course takes 5-6 hours and covers multiple content areas in personal finance, including saving, borrowing, earning, investing, and risk management. About the Course
The Adult Financial Wellness course was developed by university experts in financial education at the UChicago Financial Education Initiative. The course is fully online, individual, and self-paced. It contains six 1-hour modules on the topics of saving, borrowing, earning, investing, risk management, and general financial decision-making. Learners can stop and start these modules at any time. It provides a broad base of knowledge that will help employees better understand how to make financial decisions.

How to apply for unemployment benefits if you are out of work during Illinois’ COVID-19 shutdown by Sun-Times
Workers laid off temporarily — and even parents caring for children home from school — can qualify for unemployment benefits under the state’s recently adopted emergency rules.
Tens of thousands of workers across Illinois have been temporarily out of work since the outbreak began forcing businesses to close. Last week, Gov. J.B. Pritzker ordered all bars and restaurants to stop serving dine-in customers, and on Saturday, he issued a stay-at-home order leaving just “essential” businesses in operation.
The result is countless people are now out of work and being forced into the state’s unemployment system. Illinois alone saw more than 64,000 new claims for unemployment benefits from March 16-18.
To handle this massive influx of new applications, IDES announced it recently adopted emergency rules for who qualifies for unemployment insurance.
Unemployment insurance (UI) basics
In normal times, UI provides temporary income via federal funds to Illinois residents who are unemployed but able, available and actively seeking work each week.
The amount residents can receive depends on their usual pay rate with benefits ranging from $51 to $580 per week. Those approved can receive up to 26 weeks of benefits in a 12-month period.
The new emergency rules adopted during the coronavirus pandemic open up UI to a much larger group of workers. This means many people who wouldn’t typically qualify for UI can get benefits during the state of emergency.

Illinois residents who are temporarily out of work because their employer has closed due to the coronavirus can qualify for UI if they meet all the other basic requirements.
The state isn’t expecting anyone to go out looking for a new job during a stay-at-home order: as long as applicants are prepared to return to their job as soon as the employer reopens, they’ll be considered to be actively seeking work and will qualify.
Under emergency rules, these workers will not have to register with the employment service.
Workers who quit due to COVID-19 fears cannot get UI
Unlike Illinois residents who are temporarily laid off by their employers’ closure, workers who voluntarily leave their job over concerns of the coronavirus will not be eligible for UI. The agency says “an individual generally has a duty to make a reasonable effort to work with his or her employer to resolve whatever issues have caused the individual to consider quitting.”
Parents who leave work due to a child’s school closure can get UI
With all Illinois schools closed through at least April 7, and Chicago Public schools through April 20, parents who voluntarily leave work to care for their child can qualify for UI because they “could be considered as unemployed through no fault of” their own.
You must still meet all of the other standard requirements, and unlike workers temporarily laid off due to COVID-19, parents who voluntarily leave work must be registered with the employment service.
Anyone who’s already exhausted UI rights will not receive additional benefits
Illinois residents who have already received the full 26 weeks’ worth of benefits within the last 12 months will not be eligible for additional UI under the emergency rules.

You can call the Illinois Department of Economic Services at 800-244-5631 or 866-488-4016 (TTY), but even the governor admits the lines have been very busy so he recommends filing your claim via the IDES website. Do not go in person: As of March 19, IDES offices are closed to the public until further notice.

SBA providing $10,000 emergency disaster grant for small business
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the government, through the Small Business Administration (SBA) is providing small businesses, sole proprietorships, and independent contractors a loan of up to $2 million, and a grant of up to $10,000, which may not have to be repaid, even if the loan application is denied.
Their website states:
SBA is collecting the requested information in order to make a loan under SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program to the qualified entities listed in this application that are impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The information will be used in determining whether the applicant is eligible for an economic injury loan. If you do not submit all the information requested, your loan cannot be fully processed.
The Applicant understands that the SBA is relying upon the self-certifications contained in this application to verify that the Applicant is an eligible entity to receive the advance, and that the Applicant is providing this self-certification under penalty of perjury pursuant to 28 U.S.C. 1746 for verification purposes.
The estimated time for completing this entire application is two hours and ten minutes, although you may not need to complete all parts. You are not required to respond to this collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB approval number.
Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and the $10,000 grant should be paid within three days of an application.
Many of our small business owners and independent contracts in Little Falls are struggling right now, so please spread the word so that they may take advantage of this stimulus offer as soon as possible.

- Hang up on robocalls. Don’t press any numbers. Scammers are using illegal robocalls to pitch everything from scam Coronavirus treatments to work-at-home schemes. The recording might say that pressing a number will let you speak to a live operator or remove you from their call list, but it might lead to more robocalls, instead.
- Ignore online offers for vaccinations and home test kits. Scammers are trying to get you to buy products that aren’t proven to treat or prevent the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) — online or in stores. At this time, there also are no FDA-authorized home test kits for the Coronavirus. Visit the FDA to learn more.
- Fact-check information. Scammers, and sometimes well-meaning people, share information that hasn’t been verified. Before you pass on any messages, contact trusted sources. Visit What the U.S. Government is Doing for links to federal, state and local government agencies.
- Know who you’re buying from. Online sellers may claim to have in-demand products, like cleaning, household, and health and medical supplies when, in fact, they don’t.
- Don’t respond to texts and emails about checks from the government. The details are still being worked out. Anyone who tells you they can get you the money now is a scammer.
- Don’t click on links from sources you don’t know. They could download viruses onto your computer or device.
- Watch for emails claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or experts saying they have information about the virus. For the most up-to-date information about the Coronavirus, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
- Do your homework when it comes to donations, whether through charities or crowdfunding sites. Don’t let anyone rush you into making a donation. If someone wants donations in cash, by gift card, or by wiring money, don’t do it.

WASHINGTON – Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced Thursday that many Americans reeling from the financial impacts caused by the coronavirus outbreak can expect to see their one-time stimulus checks of up to $1,200 show up in their bank accounts in about two weeks. For those without direct deposit, Mnuchin promised checks would go out quickly in a matter of “weeks.”
The announcement followed a memo sent out by House Democrats that warned some Americans could have to wait up to 20 weeks – or five months – before they receive their checks.
When asked about the memo, which was sent out by the House Ways and Means Committee, during a White House coronavirus task force briefing Thursday, Mnuchin said it was “not going to take” that long.
“Quickly, as a matter of weeks and not months,” Mnuchin said of the money going out.

He said the IRS was working on establishing a portal that would allow those for whom the IRS does not have direct deposit information to input their banking information, allowing Americans to get a check faster.
The Treasury Department told USA TODAY the first batch of stimulus checks would go out in two weeks, meaning about 50 million to 70 million Americans would get the money directly into their bank accounts by April 15. Over the next three weeks, the department said the “overwhelming majority of eligible Americans” will have received their payment.
The Democratic memo, sent out to House Democrats by the House Ways and Means Committee, offered a timeline for when the checks could reach Americans. The notice highlighted that the timeline was based off “extensive conversations with the IRS and the Department of Treasury” and was subject to change.
The memo said around mid-April, likely the week of April 13, the Internal Revenue Service planned to issue payments to about 60 million Americans through direct deposit. These payments will be made to those whom the IRS has direct deposit information for from their 2018 and 2019 tax returns, the memo notes.

Three weeks later, the IRS would start issuing paper checks, the Democratic memo noted. This process would take more time, and House Democrats say the IRS informed them that it has a capacity to issue about 5 million of these checks per week.
The IRS does not have direct deposit information for about 90 million to 110 million Americans, meaning getting checks to all of these individuals could take up to 20 weeks, or about five months, before all Americans receive this financial relief via checks. Those with lower incomes would get assistance first, the memo adds.
Mnuchin poured water on the figures, explaining that the aim was to limit the number of paper checks going out and instead get more Americans signed up for direct deposit. He noted money would go out on a rolling basis for those who supply their information to the department, including through the new portal being set up later this month.
“We don’t want to send checks in this environment,” he said. “We don’t want people to get checks. We want to put money directly into their accounts.”
Mnuchin added: “This money does people no good if it shows up in four months, and we will deliver on that promise.”
