Good afternoon 5th Ward,
Since Dominick’s announced it was closing it’s stores in the City of Chicago last year, I have been inserting myself as much as possible to ensure that the residents in the South Shore area have access to fresh produce and affordable grocery. After many conversations with the owners of Jeffery Plaza, potential grocery stores and the constituents I represent, I saw no other option than to ask the city to acquire Jeffery Plaza through a process that myself and Mayor Emanuel introduced.
