“The tragic shooting rampage that left three Chicago area residents dead and four wounded is a clear call to action for the new Congress to immediately pass long-overdue gun violence prevention legislation, including universal background checks, straw purchases, and interstate gun trafficking that’s responsible for more than half of the guns used to commit crimes in Chicago. This is a pivotal moment in history to enact a progression of commonsense gun measures to protect our communities from mass casualty shootings and the daily reality of gun violence that took 769 lives in Chicago last year.”
