| Dear Friends, Supporters, and Members:
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Tonya Love Trice has been selected as our new Executive Director. As we carefully map the course ahead to ensure that we continue to build on the services and programs, strengths and opportunities that embody our work to build a better, stronger, more sustainable South Shore community. After having an Executive Director search process that yielded several impressive resumes, and after meeting with many of these stellar candidates, it became clear to us that we didn’t need to look too far from our own home grown talent to find the best person to fulfill this important responsibility in these tough times.
As you may know, Tonya has served exceptionally well as the Program Manager for SSA #42, working daily and closely with all South Shore community stakeholders, especially our business owners to ensure that we are supporting their needs, delivering services that enhance opportunities for them to generate more business, and create an attractive business corridor that will assist in bringing new businesses and keeping existing ones. Tonya has done this well, and the Chamber has benefited greatly from her sound management, vision, and knowledge in her work with the SSA. We remain honored to serve as the fiscal manager for SSA #42, and we greatly appreciate the expressed support of our elected officials who have entrusted us with this work. We will only get better in this endeavor with Tonya as our new Executive Director.
With Tonya now at the helm of our organization, over the next month, our Board will be developing a strategic plan with her, developing goals and key performance indicators, for the next 3 years. In March, we will bring together the community, especially our Business Owners, to present this plan, gain critical feedback, and re-commit ourselves to working as ONE community, to working with Tonya and the team she will assemble to execute our vision for South Shore. We appreciate your patience during this process…and we appreciate in advance your support for our mission and of our work.
Congratulations to Tonya Trice; we are rooting for her success, but she is not in this alone. We must all pitch in with our ideas, our time, our resources, and most importantly our positive energy.
