004th District (South Chicago)

 

About This Crime:

  • This alert gives notice to citizens of the 004th District (South Chicago) an increase in reported armed robberies on 77th Street between Kingston and Colfax Avenues. In each incident, the victims were approached by the offenders who displayed firearms and announced the robbery. Victims were ultimately robbed of money and cellular phones. Below are the listed dates and times of occurrence:

 

  • 7700 block of South Kingston Ave on 11 December 2014 at approximately 5:20 pm
  • 7700 block of South Colfax Ave on 14 December 2014 at approximately 11:15 pm

 

 

 

About the Offender:

  • The offenders are described as two, male black subjects 25 to 35 years of age, approximately 5’02”-6’00”, 120-180 lbs., with light to medium complexions. One subject was additionally noted to have his hair worn in dreadlocks.

 

Safety Tips:

  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • If you are confronted by an assailant, remain calm
  • Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limps, acne, teeth, tattoos, etc…)
  • Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide information to the police
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
  • Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on-scene when possible
