It’s not too late!

LaQuan McDonald. Tamir Rice. Michael Brown. Eric Garner. Jonathan Ferrell. Rekia Boyd. Oscar Grant. Trayvon Martin.
These are just a handful of names that have come to represent violence in African American communities at the hands of law enforcement. Such incidents have caused our city to second guess its political officials and has broken the trust between community residents and police. Check out the following music video that illustrates this tension or “Bad Blood” between many local youth and law enforcement.
During this time it is more imperative than ever that our communities begin to heal. Claretian Associates is a community organization doing just that.
In collaboration with YMCA South Chicago, Claretian Associates has become a part of the Bridging the Divide initiative. Bridging the Divide helps build relationships between youth, law enforcement officials, and other community members by offering opportunities for dialogue through cafes, peace circles, story sharing, and more. These conversations have help members of the police to learn more about young residents in the neighborhood and put COMMUNITY back in community policing.
We ask that you join us in this work by sponsoring a peace circle for $150.
Each peace circle cost $150 to facilitate.
